"April 6th 2018 - Yosemite Valley to Close Friday in unusual move by park service..." was the news on the car radio on the way to the park south entrance. Having waited over 25 years to visit this place, this wasn't the news I'd hoped for. The closure was due to a forecast months' worth of rain to fall on high the remaining snow and cause potential life threatening flooding and mudslides. We made it in just before the rangers closed the road and had to be out by 5pm.
Visibility ranged from zero to spectacular. I never sighted the famous Half Dome, but I think the full waterfalls and mist more than made up for this.
